We’re proud to announce the second of our first two major donations: a £2,500 gift to Upcycle, a brilliant organisation transforming both bikes and lives in Bradford and beyond.
Upcycle runs hands-on training workshops focused on bike maintenance and repair, helping young people learn valuable skills, gain confidence, and contribute to a greener planet. By refurbishing bikes destined for landfill, they’re turning waste into opportunity—and giving young people a powerful new sense of purpose.
What Our Donation is Funding
Our donation is supporting a year-long programme for 35 young people, offering:
In-depth bike maintenance training
Access to ongoing drop-in sessions
A refurbished bike, complete with lights, helmet, and lock
The freedom to travel independently and feel connected to their community
But it doesn’t stop there. Graduates can join guided bike rides, the Young Mechanics Club, and even volunteer in Upcycle’s shop to continue building their skills in a real-world setting.
Why This Matters
This programme is based in one of the UK’s most disadvantaged communities, where opportunities can be scarce and futures uncertain. Upcycle isn’t just teaching mechanical skills—they’re creating pathways to employment, independence, and self-belief.
The numbers speak for themselves:
82% of trainees gained new skills
70% reported better mental health
66% made new friendships
78% felt empowered to make better life choices
70% experienced a stronger sense of belonging
It’s more than just fixing bikes—it’s about building futures.
A Word from Upcycle
“This funding will transform lives by equipping at-risk youth with the skills and confidence to unlock brighter futures. It will enable us to deliver unique, supportive, and impactful cycling programmes that foster independence and resilience.”– Upcycle Team
